The UK's second largest city again hosts The Birmingham Triathlon at the fabulous Commonwealth Games venue of Sutton Park. This beautiful rural setting with closed to traffic cycle course is a true test for competitors of all abilities, whether first time novice or experienced club and age group triathlete. The swim in Powell's Pool seen at the Commonwealth Games Triathlon 2022, is a perfect setting for the start of a memorable triathlon experience.
Whether you want to “Tri a Triathlon” or are an experienced triathlete, The Birmingham Triathlon has challenging distances for all abilities.
Swim, Cycle and Run in the wilderness within an urban environment at Sutton Park, with its captivating scenery via the accessible network of roads and paths.

Swim course distance: 1 lap = 750m - 1 lap Short Course = 200m
Olympic & Olympic Relay: 750m x 2 laps = 1500m
Sprint & Sprint Relay: 750m x 1 lap = 750m
Super Sprint & Fun: 200m SC x 1 lap = 200m
Bike course distance: 1 lap = 5km
Olympic & Olympic Relay: 5km lap x 8 laps = 40km
Sprint & Relay: 5km lap x 4 laps = 20km
Super Sprint & Fun: 5km lap x 2 laps = 10km
Run course distance: 1 lap = 2.5km
Olympic & Olympic Relay: 2.5km lap x 4 laps = 10km

Full and up to date competitor race day information with your race number and start time will be emailed to you 7-10 days before the event. Please check spam/junk folders.
WE DO NOT POST ANYTHING OUT - you will collect your race numbers, stickers, etc. at registration on the day.

Choose your favourite discipline, then invite friends or teammates to join and complete your relay team.
(Age restrictions apply)
A relay team can consist of two or three people.
Each member of the relay team completes one or two of the three disciplines in the triathlon.
The swimmer completes the swim, then the swimmer passes the electronic chip to the cyclist inside the cycle transition area.
The cyclist completes the cycle course and passes the electronic chip to the runner in the transition area.
The runner completes the run and hands in the electronic chip at the finish line.
All team members can cross the finish line together and collect their medals.
We award first place in the Female Relay Event and first place in the Open/Mixed Category Relay Event.
All Open/Mixed Category teams can consist of two or three people, male or female.
If you are taking part in the Olympic or Olympic Relay, wetsuits are compulsory.
For the Sprint, Sprint Relay, Super Sprint and Fun distances, wetsuits are not compulsory. However, if you wish to wear one for these distances then that isn’t a problem.
