I just wanted to say, what an event you guys put on! I really can't thank all the marshals and helpers enough for making the UK Ultimate the event the highlight of my triathlon career so far. The helpfulness and sheer enthusiasm of each and every person, who stood for hours in the hot sun handing out drinks and directing traffic really helped me to complete my first Iron distance event.
I can still hear the cheers and shouts of encouragement now!
If anyone deserves a medal, it's these guys. I really can't thank you all for an incredible event and I'll be back for certain!
Cheers,

I've just completed the 2018 Ultimate. What a fantastic event from start to finish. The things I loved about today's event would be far too long to list here. But I would like to make a special mention for the marshals. They can make or break and event and today they were exceptional.
For anyone thinking of doing a triathlon, this is the one. Stunning location, great course, excellent organisation, the best marshals in the business. Everything to love.

Having previously done an Ironman branded event, this was the complete opposite. It was so laid back, relaxed and really catered well for first timers. All possible questions were answered during the race briefing and everyone on site that day - marshals, volunteers and participants all had a real sense of team spirit and you could feel each one wishing you well and wanting you to succeed.
The swim was ace. Great lake, shallow, clean, warm and easy to navigate.
The bike course was the only real downside of this event. The first half was lovely windy country roads which were good to cycle on. The second half as you headed back into Whitchurch has some appalling road surfaces, roundabouts to navigate and very fast moving traffic shooting past. One aid station was on a hill - not easy to grab a drink! The second was on a tight bend so again, not easy to use.
The run course was a mixture of trails around the lake, across the grass and down a road. Apart from it being too hot and no shade (not the organisers fault we actually had a sunny day!) the run course was good and pretty flat.
I think were were some issues with timing as it has taken 5 days to get my results though, and my transition times are mixed in with my swim and bike so I don't actually know what my accurate splits were. This is however a few minor downside on what was a great day and a big achievement.
I would 100% recommend this triathlon despite its few flaws with the bike route. That is made up for by the helpfulness of every single marshal met and the overall experience of the day.
Cheaper than an Ironman branded event and a great experience -if you are going for a long distance tri then I recommend this one.
